The concept of out-of-sight out-of-mind in the attention economy, is in developmental psychology known as Object Permanence. Experiments on humans and mammals to understand this phenomenon show results that can is being used in developing marketing strategies in the attention-driven economy. Object permanence is the knowledge that the person or object exists even when no longer perceived by the senses. Unlike mammals, humans develop this understanding as they grow older.

While, Theory of mind refers to the ability to understand the mental states of others and to recognise that those mental states may differ from our own. Developing a theory of mind is a key stage of child development. A well-developed theory of mind helps us solve conflicts, develop social skills, and reasonably predict other people’s behaviour.
